Roderick has made his career in merchant banking and asset management. His degree was in Modern History at Oxford, after which he worked as an investment analyst in London and Paris. He was an Investment Manager at N.M. Rothschild Asset Management before being responsible for Investment Management businesses at Trade Development Bank, American Express and James Capel. He was a director of Matheson & Co. Limited responsible for creating and managing its private banking business.
Latterly, he has held non-executive directorships, undertaken charity work and managed money in the alternative space. He is a director of Solent Systematic Investment Solutions. He is a director of Solent Systematic Investment Strategies and of Plain English Finance and chairman of Innvotec. Roderick is married with three daughters and lives in London.
Professor Andrew Clare is the Professor of Asset Management at Cass Business School and the Associate Dean responsible for Cass’s MSc programme, which is the largest in Europe. He was a Senior Research Manager in the Monetary Analysis wing of the Bank of England which supported the work of the Monetary Policy Committee.
While at the Bank Andrew was responsible for equity market and derivatives research. Andrew also spent three years working as the Financial Economist for Legal and General Investment Management (LGIM), where he was responsible for the group’s investment process and where he began the development of LGIM’s initial Liability Driven Investment offering. He has published extensively in both academic and practitioner journals on a wide range of economic and financial market issues. In a survey published in 2007, Andrew was ranked as the world’s ninth most prolific finance author of the past fifty years.
Andrew serves on the investment committee of the GEC Marconi pension plan, which oversees the investments and investment strategy of this £4.0bn scheme, and is a trustee and Chairman of the Investment Committee of the £2.0bn Magnox Electric Group Pension scheme.
Steve Thomas joined Cass in February 2007, after being Professor of Financial Markets at Southampton University since 1996, and prior to that at the University of Wales, Swansea, from 1992. He was Houblon-Norman Fellow at the Bank of England,1988.
Steve is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting and in 2005 was ranked 11th in Europe for finance research. He was a director of Bear Stearns’ Global Alpha macro hedge fund, 2005-7, and Firecrest Hambro Investment Management, 2002-6.
Steve is on the education committee for CFA UK, an examiner for their Investment Management Certificate and co-author of the accompanying Official Training Manual.
Tofiq Qureshi is a serial entrepreneur with twenty years of business, including ten years of investment experience. Focused on startup and earlly-stage opportunities in Fintech, Edtech and general technology with a global footprint, he also has a personal investment focus with close friends and family on UK based ventures and overseas passive co-investment. Tofiq has an MBA from Imperial College, London, and BS in Electronic Engineering. He has been involved with financial institutions such as Bank of New York Mellon and Accenture.
